Rated 5 out of 5 by Haiku Great tool for beginners
I purchased this kit 2 weeks ago. The DVD instruction is helpful. I've been doing yoga daily since my purchase. Wonderful tool for people beginning and not able to attend a class regularly.

Rated 5 out of 5 Nice, comprehensive beginner's kit
This kit is great- it has all you need to hit the ground running as a beginner yogi! And the turquoise color is pretty too! The only think I don't like is that the buckle on the strap is metal (some are plastic) and so when the metal hits the ground or another object it is louder and harder than if the buckle were plastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by littlemagpie13 Love this beginner's kit!
I've been wanting to get back into yoga ever since I took a class at school. I figured that I'd get a beginner's kit, since I thought I may be a little bit rusty. I love every item in the kit - especially the mat (of course)! The DVD is also very helpful for beginners, even though I didn't really need the prop intro. Many of the reviewers complained about the daily yoga stretch being too fast, but I always make it a point to watch a workout DVD BEFORE I use it in a workout, so that I know what to expect.
Anyway, love it love it love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Syndria Must for beginners
I have absolutely no experience with yoga and on suggestion from a friend came to Gaiam.
This kit has everything you need to begin your path to wellness.
The block and strap are almost essential for a first timer, they helped me understand the stability of each pose. One of the Dvd's shows you how to use them and WHY. Important for some. Very helpful for first timers.
Rodney Yee has a very calming and clear voice. His instruction is simple and concise.
For those beginning or those unable to find good beginner classes near by, this is an excellent start kit.
The price can NOT be beat.

Rated 4 out of 5 Good value for beginner
I've used the mat in both regular and hot yoga classes and it performs well. I have yet to need/use the block, strap or DVD so I can't speak to the quality of those. 2 reasons for 4 stars: #1 - the mat is a bit thin and some poses are more painful on my knees than I would like. I'm wondering if, as a beginner, I should've gone for a thicker mat and #2 - the mat tends to move around on the floor so I sometimes end up misaligned with the rest of the class which is distracting and annoying. Perhaps this is partly me not being very fluid in the transitions between poses yet but also could be that the mat doesn't grip on the floor very well either. Overall, for the quality of the mat and everything that comes in the set, it's a very good value for someone who's starting out.
