Rated 5 out of 5 by Great beginners kit The mat is great, the strap wonderful, and the block is perfect. For the price you cannot beat it. Have yet to use the DVD but am sure it will come in handy on a rainy day. February 19, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great starter kit for yoga practice! Thank you for making an affordable beginner yoga kit. The inclusion of the DVD for prop use and beginner poses is especially helpful. Great value for the price! January 19, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by For more advanced beginners I purchased this "Yoga for Beginners Kit" with the hopes of learning the positions, the props, and then moving into a more easy paced program. I watched the portion that demonstrated the props, but there was no session showing them in use during the normal session. As a beginner, I was trying to determine what the difference was between cobra and upward dog. Intro's usually explain these minute differences in posture. For example between the two positions mentioned, there is a slight variation in body to ground: one is more on the ground the other is elevated. It would have been helpful to have it explained. The sessions were very fast paced for beginners and I found that I couldn't keep up at times. That hasn't stopped me from repeated viewings to understand. Suggestions: What I have found more educational is programs that have more than one person, one to show what it should look like for the more practiced and another person showing the modifications showing the props. Include a DVD in these kits that go over the basic postures in detail so that people understand them. August 20, 2010
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not for Beginners I was so excited to see an all-inclusive product for beginners by Rodney Yee. I have been using his other DVDs and love most of them. This kit was dissappointing in that yes, he explained how to use the props but then did not follow up with a routine actually using the props. Additionally, the Daily Yoga segment is NOT for beginners. It is entirely too fast and has advanced positions such as the Tree. I would suggest a friend purchase a mat & props from Walmart & Rodney's DVDs separately from Gaiam or check them out of the library for a preview of what would fit your beginner comfort level. Sorry Rodney. I really do love your DVDs more than anyone elses I've tried, which is quite numerous. August 18, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by I purchased this as a gift for a true beginner - the daily yoga workout was much more fast paced than I anticapted. Other than that it's great! May 20, 2010
