After reading some of the reviews I almost didn't buy this one but I am so very glad I did!! I love it! For the most part you will do the moves with your eyes closed and the instructor is very good about describing the moves as you go so you don't have to open your eyes too often. The meditation at the end is wonderful also! This DVD will push you beyond your limits but that's the point of working out right? ;)
This one is most definitely one of my favorites!

Kundalini yoga is ok if I am in the mood. If you are looking for a nice flow, then this DVD is not for you. But it's not the Kundalini that haunts me about this DVD, it's the tone of it. I almost feel like I'm watching cult members following a cult leader. The DVD is shot outside (I think) in some weird setting and the only thing that is missing is the participants saying, "Yes, Gurmukh, anything you say, Gurmukh...." I own about 100 yoga DVDs and this one kind of freaks me out.

I find this workout very satisfying. There's a lot of room for making it strenuous or relaxed. I enjoy the mindful cultivation of energy to oneself - "bring it in, come on, go for it." The only thing that bothers me about the video is that the "students" don't give variations to the activities, or provide freer expression. There are a number of times when she says, "form does not matter here," but they are all the same and seem restricted. In other cases they don't demonstrate key aspects to a pose such as keeping the eyes closed, or when to open them, or staying on the toes. That said, it is really trivial except for those very new to Kundalini Yoga. And if you are new, just be more mindful of what Gurmukh is saying vs. looking to the class for demonstration. And mooove that body! Enjoy.

I was not familiar with Kundalini Yoga, but I decided to purchase this DVD to try something new. I think if one keeps an open mind, you can get a lot out of this workout. At times I felt silly flapping my arms about, but once I got through the initial resistance I realized, "Wow, this really is a great cardio workout." I feel absolutely wonderful afterwards. I love the meditation at the end, and I'm definitely adding Kundalini Yoga to my routine.

I was vaguely familiar with Kundalini yoga before purchasing this DVD. Gurmukh says Kundalini yoga is the original form of yoga. I feel the breathing aspect of Kundalini yoga is very important to overall well-being, as it is very restorative--it's somewhat different than traditional yoga, and I feel it's easier (for me) to maintain proper breath. The strength building segment is very challenging, but she is so encouraging throughout the DVD that you are spurred on. I feel rejuvenated after doing this practice, and that my energy field has been cleared. The hour long DVD goes quickly, and ends with a wonderful relaxing segment (very similar to Savasana).
