Rated 5 out of 5 by Fine mat, love it. I love this mat, it very well made, not slippery at all and earth-friendly. What not to love? It smelled (like rubber) at first but after I left it in the air for 2 days, the smell went away. The mat cleaner I bought with this mat didn’t work, it seems impossible to spread the cleaner over the mat, it’s just too sticky. Then I read in the FAQ that you can just shower and air-dry it. So far it doesn’t smell like sweat :) April 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Thickness Comfortable and excellent grip for hot yoga.  Holds towels firmly in place  and I love that it's made from natural rubber. March 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 Long life I have had this mat since December of 2008. I've been using it for a steady couple days a week since - sometimes more. This last week , I finally slipped out of  back bend . That is a pretty good life for a mat. It lasted almost 5 years. There are still areas on the mat that are anti slip. I love this mat and I'm sad I have to retire my old one. I started having wrist issues the last couple years so I will need a little more cushion on my mat. This was a wonderful product and I will always buy from Gaiam.  September 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful and Great for Travel This is a beautiful yoga mat! It's a thin rubber, so it serves three good purposes. One, it's eco-friendly, two, it's has a no-slip surface that helps with those slippery down dog hands, and three, it folds up and fits nicely into a suitcase so it's great for travel. If you're looking for more padding, this isn't the mat for you, but if any of these other reasons appeal, then I highly recommend the wisdom print mat. April 18, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great mat with one cautionary note I chose this mat for the design and didn't take in that it was rubber so I was a little surprised when it arrived.  But I love how well-anchored I feel in all the poses.  It's not really "sticky" but my feet and hands do not slip on this mat.   Addressing the comments of other reviewers:  Mine also smelled like the tire shop when I opened the box, but it aired out quickly.  I also feel that 3mm is too thin for comfort  so I use one of the gym's mats underneath. My cautionary note is that when I put it through the washer (you wash your mat, right?), it came out  STICKY!  And not in a good way.  It is so sticky that when I move my feet, the mat comes with me.  Very awkward and disruptive to practicing yoga!   So I'm ordering  the same mat again and I will just wipe it down rather than putting it in the washer - lesson learned.  Namaste. Currently, the wisdom mat is only available in blue. Our new Drip Grip yoga mat (05-61028) has a similar design, however is not identical.

Answer:
Try using it's stretch to help, letting your hands push into it. It won't tear the mat, though I wouldn't push too much on it so you don't fall.

Answer:
You can try washing your mat with very diluted soapy water (we are talking a couple of drops to a serving bowl, or bucket of water). I like to use dish soap as it seems to work the best. Avoid putting soap directly on the mat because it can be really difficult to rinse it when you wash it that way. Wipe the mat down with your mixture and then rinse and allow it to dry over a rail or clothes line. If this doesn't help you might check to see where your holding your weight. When you are in down dog you want to make sure that your weight isn't being held in your wrist (this is often why people feel like they don't have any grip in this pose). You want to make sure that you are pushing your weight back to wards your hips and down toward your heels. When you push your weight back like that you should notice that the weight in your arms decreases, and any remaining weight is now in the pointer fingers and thumbs of your hands. Now that your weight is distributed more evenly you should find that your not sliding as much or at all.

Answer:
It doesn't contain PVC but it does contain latex. For a latex and PVC free mat please see one of the following two mats 05-54237 or 95-1396.

Answer:
Little bit heavier than typical sticky mat, but not heavy like a Pro manduka. This is a great mat to carry around to the studio.
