Using a patented, rotating bio-drum, the Continuous-Use Composter moves compost material along an outer drum and then back toward a collection chamber as it's turned. By the time it reaches the output port, it's a light, fluffy end product. You can load this composter with kitchen scraps continuously, making it unlike typical drum composters, which require you to stop adding material at some point. Made from green polyethylene. Minimal assembly. 32"H x 33.5"W x 24" diam; 38 lbs.; 50-gal. Capacity. Canada.

Auto Flow 200 Composter Features:
  • Environmentally friendly - Great fertilizer through recycling
  • Easy to use - dump kitchen scraps and yard waste in and turn the drum
  • Unique "Autoflow" double drum design prepares compost and delivers finished compost out the side
  • Quality compost fertilizes plants and improves soil structure
  • Combines the best features and advantages of both pile-type and drum-type composters
  • Approximately 50-gallon drum
  • Easy-to-use, snap-together design can be set up and ready to go in as little as five minutes
  • Pest resistant

Why Compost?

How to Make Compost

3 Ways to Slash Your Trash: Zero Waste Is Recycling 2
Composting is essential to an organic garden. Everything from coffee grounds, to fruit and vegetable scraps, tea leaves and more can be broken down to supply your garden with much of the nutrients that plants crave. In addition to the vast benefits to your backyard garden, composters reduce the amount of waste in our landfills. The Continuous-Use Composter is practical and easy to use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by not good I bought this and have been really disappointed with it. As others have said, the compost never falls to the middle, and it's just a sticky, globby mess. Some of the material has turned into compost over the last year (just because it's been sitting in there), but it did not perform as promised. If I could have figured out a way to return this, I would have. June 6, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Composter or bug breeder? My mother purchased the SunMar 200 for me as a gift two years ago. Unfortunately, it is not working as expected. The composted material doesn't fall to the center and the barrel is full of palmetto bugs (roaches) and other bugs I have never seen before. It never gets hot except for the hours it is is the sun. We thought this would be the perfect item for me because I live in South Florida. If you have any advice, I could use it. I don't need to breed bugs, I need compost for my garden. Help! May 26, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by sun mar 200 a disaster I purchased the sun-mar 200 last August after a lot of research. I have been composting in my garden for over 20 years with a few different composters. This one looked like it had really good technology. It has been completely worthless and the service from Sun-Mar even worse. The first difficulty was that they sent a door that would not latch. Although I called and e-mailed, they did not respond. The Gaiam folks finally helped. Once I got the composter set up to use, I started putting in kitchen scraps. In complete contrast to what the pictures show, there was no nice dirt coming from the output port. Just undigested kitchen scraps. I called and e-mailed again, thinking I could get some composting advice. No response. I am very sorry that I purchased this. If it were not so bulky I would have sent it back long ago. Rated 1 out of 5 by Not good in the long run! We got this product almost three years ago now. The dual chamber doesn't work (unfinished compost consistently made it into the collection chamber.) The interior barrel got disconnected from of the exterior one, we had to dump all of the unfinished compost out to try to reinsert it. (What a mess!) Even after that it didn't work well. Finally the stand has totally warped and the drum keeps falling off. We've decided to get rid of it and get a new one. I'd stay away from this composter! May 28, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Composting Made Easy! We purchased this as a family Christmas gift and so far we love it! It was very easy to set up and it's a breeze to use. Just pop open the hatch and dump the food waste in. It turns easily. Of course, it's winter here in the Northeast, so everything is frozen in there. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can get some great compost and create space for more food waste! As a family of 4 adults who eat lots of fruit and veggies, we have tons of food scraps. Best Christmas gift ever! February 6, 2010

I am wondering what kind of plastic the composter is made out of. Does it have BPA? Phalates? Will it survive Phoenix summers?

Answer:
It is made of polyethylene which doesn't contain BPA. This should be fine in Arizona however I would be sure to put this in a shaded area or an area that doesn't get direct sun. We haven't had any complaints from our Arizona customers about this melting but I figure better safe than sorry.
