In my family, we all work desk jobs and we're not really "sports" types so working out is not a main lifestyle focus. My mom, my brother, and I have all experienced chronic back pain at times. At 60, 28, and 23, I know we can all benefit from strong core and back muscles to help maintain our posture and support, ease tension, and prevent strain. I picked up three of these little kits for Christmas (yes, one for myself... freedom from back pain=Merry Christmas to me). Here's what I like:
-Commitment is not overwhelming. You have to find space in your home for this little peanut ball, and literally ten minutes a day to go through a workout. Just lay down a towel if you don't have carpet, and do the exercises in your pajamas.
-Variety! There are two ten-minute workouts included on the DVD plus one more that you can get online. Each video also has a variety of exercises--they pack a lot into ten minutes so you don't have a chance to feel bored, and you can learn a range of exercises and techniques to eventually build your own routine, choosing the moves that work best for you.
-It's great for you. A strong and flexible core and back are a great foundation for all activities, or an attainable goal for previously inactive people. I've only done each video once but MAN it is a workout! I started off thinking "Oh this is easy, only ten minutes, I can do this." Then I moved to "Whoa, I'm feeling the burn and the stretch!" And finally "Wait, ten minutes are over already?"
I would recommend this kit especially for those who are reluctant or nervous about being new to exercising, or existing physical problems. Start small and get great results. Do each video once a week before or after a brisk 20-minute walk, and you've got a pretty decent beginner's cardio+strength exercise plan at an amazing price!

I call this wonderful thing my peanut -lol I had back surgery in 2008 & have not been able to do crunches since then. I had given up & one day I received a catalog from Gaiam.... I love anything that has to do with being healthy & there it was "my peanut". I looked & thought about it not sure if it would do the trick. I am more than just happy, after 3-1/2 yrs I am able to comfortably do crunches with no back pain. I have just started but use it every day & feeling great!!

For years I have done daily exercises for back issues. I use a larger exercise ball for some of the activities. When I am traveling whether visiting family or for work rather than foregoing some of the exercises this little peanut does the trick. Convenient for traveling, I can deflate and bring the pump with me or just put in the bag. It takes up very little space. I sometimes use it for back support on long drives to prevent me from slouching. For something so small, it is quite sturdy to support the weight that placed on it. I like it and would recommend it to others for back and core exercises.

This is a great core workout, that I often use as my warmup for exercise. It is gentle though you can also do more vigorously. The instructor is clear and likeable. My only complaint is that as a Gaiam-produced DVD you can't fast forward through about 4 minutes of advertisements at the beginning of the DVD. Basically, once they give you the medical disclaimers, you should have the option to skip right to the workout menu, but the disk won't let you. Frustrating!

I've been getting a pretty good ab workout with this and it is easy in the back. It also increases range of motion to a situp which is great for the back. The DVD that came with is was damaged. Giam is going to replace. Maybe once I have some guidance I'll like it even more!
