Rated 2 out of 5 Great for Small Jobs I was going to give the steam cleaner by Gaiam a shot. However, after I read through all of the - mostly negative - reviews, I came away with the impression this product works great on fairly small (speak "spots") jobs. Therefore the one great review of the person who replaced it with an old hand-held steamer, I assume... Too bad. :( August 19, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed The cap had to be replaced.  Good customer service.  But now, the cap needs to be replaced again and it is only 9 months old.  Disappointed.   The plastic handle grip is so very hard on my hands.   Disappointed.  When it does work properly, it steams well.  Just tired of the defective caps. Rated 1 out of 5 by This product is garbage. This is the second defective steam cleaner I have ordered from Gaiam, and it is totally defective. It worked for around 40 seconds and then shut off and would not come back on. There is clearly an electrical issue with the unit and it is totally unusable. It would be helpful if Gaiam would test products offered more thoroughly to ensure that only working products are sold. Avoid this product. October 27, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Mixed feelings I am very please with the cleaning. It works very well on my saltilo tiles, even the toughtest dirt spot are taking care of. That is when the pressure is one. You must stop very often to wait for the steam to built up again. It left you with short effective working times. The whole process - working, waiting for the steam - to clean a room is time consuming. February 12, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by disappointed there were several positive reviews on this item, so i was disappointed that my experience matched the only bad review. when the steam did come up, it was good for cleaning both bath tiles and floors, but the steam pressure had such a short life that it took forever! not being able to see the amount of water in the tank was very nervous-making as well. we waited a day or two, then tried again, but this time we couldn't get any steam at all. so we have sent it back. really wish it had worked! RE: kind of water?

I am assuming only distilled water in this to preserve the life of the boiler inside.
Also, what size is the towel that comes with it? Thanks

This is safe for any sort of flooring that can withstand steam. You would want to contact the manufacture of your floor as each brand could be different.

Answer:
Yes as long as your floors are sealed. As with any new cleaning method on hard wood be sure to spot check in an inconspicuous spot before proceeding with the rest of the floor.
