Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful effect I bought six of these lanterns and the effect is stunning.  During the day they are white and are pretty alone as they charge up  to get ready for their evening "show".  At night they become amber  harvest moons - just amazing.  My neighbors liked them so much that they bought them too!  (These are for mood, not for  lighting.) Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice, cute, but way overpriced! I have watched these in the catalog for quite a while and finally decided to get three of them. As others have written, the light is not very strong in other words, you almost have to place them in very direct bright light, but the soft yellow light is still pretty cool. My biggest concern is that right after I received these I saw them in our local Miejer's Store for 1/3 the cost. I would have sent these right back and bought the lower priced lanterns, but they did not have plain white which I think is a classier color. Other than the lack of white as a choice these were the exact same lanterns. So, yes, I recommend these, but the high price? Not so much. June 30, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Wonderful romantic lights   These lights have a deep amber light at night and look amazing. You'll need to  charge them from time to time by putting them upside down (solar panel up) in the sun. And, I take them inside  when it rains. The opening on top will allow rain to fill the globe so I don't think that would be good for the lantern. If anyone has left them out in rainy weather without damage, please let me know. Thanks! Rated 5 out of 5 by Truly an outstanding product The shoji lanterns operate well, they look beautiful, and they give significant light (unlike many other solar lights). Since they're portable, you can charge them in a very sunny place, then move them at night to a tree branch normally in deep shade during the day. Or, into your tent. The atmosphere they lend to a camp site is magical. We not only recommend them, we give them as gifts! July 27, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great balls of light! The lights are everything and more than I had hoped for. The soft orange glow lasts for at least 8 hours when put in the sun all day. They are on when I go to bed and are still on when I get up at dawn. The globe fabric seems durable. I use them as night lights in the family room. Good purchase. June 20, 2012

For optimum glow, you should let your Solar Lantern charge one full day in direct sunlight prior to use.
