Are the solar panels attached and part of the lights? Or can the solar panels be mounted separately from the lights in a sunnier spot? If so, how far away can they be mounted?

Answer:
.the solar panels are part of the lantern, that is: attached. Since the lanterns are portable, charge in a very sunny spot, then move them to where you need them in the evening.

Answer:
The panels are attached; as you fully open the "ball" the panel is not easy to reach-you'd have to collapse them to do so. They look like orange full moons when lit, with not too much sun exposure (thus far!)

Answer:
The solar panel is attached to the top of the lantern. They can be hung and left outside, or you can charge them by placing them directly in the sun and then rehanging them in any location. The lanterns flatten and can be charged while flat, or they can be left in their lantern state while charging.
