Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 34 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Buying two more for christmas I bought this DVD last year, my first attempt at yoga, and truly is the best introduction if you're going to go about it via recording. I still use this almost everyday before work, it's the perfect length to waken the body/mind and still make it out the door on time (20 min including the corpse pose/meditation). There are two separate 20 min routines anyway, and an in-depth pose instruction to make sure you're engaging the right muscles. Great stuff. I fell in love with Rodney using this DVD, bought 5 other of his works to accompany this one on my shelf. Yet to be let down. Also, If you are also using this as your gateway into yoga, definitely recommend using a decent sized mirror so you can look at your form until you get a feel for each pose. November 28, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best beginner's yoga DVD Having never been to a yoga class I was finding it difficult to keep up w/ other beginner DVDs. Rodney Yee is easy to follow to by far the best beginner's video I've seen and I won't need to buy another one. July 24, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Effective for a Beginner It advises you with the most basic skills and postures that are essential before beginning yoga. I've attended yoga studios; however, no yoga instructor has ever taught some of the things taught through this DVD. Yoga is not about much you can twist or stretch. It's about your posture and your breathing. This DVD concentrates on that essential aspect to yoga. It's just too bad that it only went through a few postures. It would have been nice if there was more of a variety that would make it more worth it for its cost. July 11, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Quite easy This DVD is well edited (as the instructor is not talking during the practice, but rather dubbed over) but be aware that "Beginner" means BEGINNER. I bought this for my husband (31 years old) to get into yoga, but he is much more inspired by my Ashtanga DVDs. This DVD is great for someone who wishes to relax or for someone who might be older and starting fresh, but not for a more active practice. January 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by New to Yoga I'm new to yoga and although I like to go to classes, sometimes after work I'd rather practice at home. Rodney Yee's instructions are easy to follow and very inspiring. I've tried some other yoga DVDs but this is my favorite. January 2, 2012

2 or 3 nights a week I get off at 8pm. I go to bed by 10 since i get up at 4:30am 5 days a week. Gotta love 2nd jobs. Some say to not exercise after 3 hours before bed so your body can quiet down. Will it be ok to do this before bed and not have it keep me up? I am assuming yes because it IS yoga, but I do have problems sleeping. Sorry so long of a question and this is my first yoga experience.

Answer:
This DVD has a PM section that would be appropriate at any time before bed. I wouldn't do the AM section in the evening however because the poses are meant to energize and awaken the body. You will want to avoid any yoga dvd's before bed that mention that they energize, are a morning practice, or are good for a pick me up.

I am a yoga instructor, 64 yrs. old and am now finding that a fast moving vinyasa practice is not helpful for my knees and joints in general. Rodney Yee's Am workout is great for me and I love it...but, I would like to see more DVD's for older adults who relish their yoga but can no longer jump and move quickly,. I believe yoga can be a central component to all our lives as we age. Is this being addressed?

Answer:
I had a severe wrist injury two months ago and now cannot put any weight on my left wrist, so I cannot do some of the common vinyasa practices. Even though I am not technically a beginner, I like Yoga for Beginners best now; it is very slow moving, emphasizing accuracy overall, and it gives me time to get my yoga block in place to support my forearm in postures like Downward Dog.

I agree, it would be nice to see a DVD that addresses accommodations for those with different joint injuries and diseases.

I recently watched excerpts of this DVD in English and understood it quite well but to imitate the exercises best I think I'll need a German audio track.

Thanks for help! :-)
