Spot clean your reversible yoga mat with Gaiam's Mat Wash or damp cloth with cold water and mild detergent. Dry flat. The yoga mat may fade and become brittle and unusable if exposed to the sun for extended periods of time. We recommend storing your yoga mat in a mat bag when not in use. 24"W x 68"L x .12" thick

Rated 4 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by No strong feelings The mat works well but doesn't roll out flat as easily as mats of other materials. I would not recommend for use during hot yoga or bikram as the material is very slippery (and squeaky) when wet.  January 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This yoga teacher loves it! This is a great mat! I use it several times a day and replace it once a year. It's soft, lightweight, non-slip, scent-free, non-toxic and easy to keep clean. I love it and recommend it to my students! July 21, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great reversible mat I used this mat for a long time for hot yoga and it was great because it was easy to clean and never got stinky. July 19, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Mat I've always used a thicker mat, but this is just a wonderful mat. It's lightweight and I NEVER slide on it like my old mats. The plus of this mat is that the colors are great. Never noticed any smell at all. February 17, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great mat Seems to be a great mat - a bit on the thin side - I prefer the 5mm or so - but good price - easy on the beginner's pocket book, but no slippage and no smell. October 7, 2011

Answer:
You can try washing it with very diluted dish soap (a drop or two to a sink full of water) and scrub it down with that, and then rinse thoroughly. If this doesn't work and you purchased it directly from us it can be sent for a return or exchange.

Your description says, "This mat is made from non-toxic TPE, which contains no PVC or latex." I want to know if that means it is phthalate-free.

Answer:
There is no formaldehyde in this or any of our yoga mats. The smell that some customers experience is just from the mats being sealed in packaging after they made. It is sometimes more severe if the mat didn't get to air out for very long before it was wrapped but this smell will go away.
