Printed yoga mats release a very strong but harmless odor when first unwrapped. Please unroll and air out your mat for 2-3 days before use. Spot clean with our Yoga Mat Wash or damp cloth with cold water and mild detergent. Dry flat. The mat may fade and become brittle and unusable if exposed to the sun for extended periods of time. Store in a mat bag when not in use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Peachy Keen I bought this mat for doing Iyengar Yoga because I felt the patterning  would be useful for helping me find the proper alignment. Unfortunately, the dark red pattern on the dark peach mat wasn't clear enough for me to readily distinguish it during yoga class, even in a very brightly lit room. That said, your eyes might be better than mine and I was able to pass this mat o to a friend's child. She was able to use it  as a more whimsical alignment mat once she and the kiddo busted out the sharpies and colored the patterns in a bit. (see mat photo)  So, if you don't need the pattern to be super clear for alignment purposes, it's a really great, very pretty mat. I found that I had to wash it with dish soap and water, and really scrub it on both sides, then hang it outside in the sun for a couple of days to get it to fully relax and to get rid of the smell. The smell is very strong.  I suggest the first time you open it you do it out of doors if you're sensitive to smells. I found the mat a tiny bit slippy, but I think that's partly because the mat was new. Also, the product blurb does mention "light tack" so I wouldn't expect it to be superduper sticky. It wasn't so bad I fell out of Warrior II, just a very slight slipping of the foot.  My teacher also said I could make it more sticky by wiping it with vodka, but I didn't have any and, I knew I was going to give it away, so  I didn't try that. If I was keeping it I probably would have.  I think the  pattern of the foam is a bit unusual (see detail photo) and I think that's why it's not super sticky. The dots are sort of almond shape and staggered, which means if you poured water over it, it would wick away. That's as opposed to other mats that have straight rows of square dots. Pour water over that, and water gets stuck in the lines. Even though I think that pattern might contribute to this mat  being less tacky,  I don't think that's a reason to pass on it. I would expect that after you used it for a few weeks, it would  (just like any other mat) become a lot more sticky. If peachy red is your color, or you want to really connect with those the first two chakras (root and sacral), or your looking  for a nicely decorated but still somewhat practical mat to help your with alignments, this could be your new favorite!
