I'm very suspiscious of this kind of this kind of perhaps "too good to be true" product but, having recently realized that chemicals were wrecking my thyroid gland, in a bit of desperation, I purchased these dryer balls. I got 4 balls since I had read somewhere that 4 worked much better than 2. And they do work! Towels are not quite as soft as when I used dryer sheets but definitely softened and more than acceptable. They make a bit a noise rattling around when the dryer first starts up but then settle in with the laundry and quiet down.
I also purchased the static cloths to use with the balls and they also essentially get the job done.
Between the good job that they do and not using any chemicals, these balls get 5 stars in my book.

I didn't believe they would work but they do. I've been using them for two weeks and my clothes come out of the drying or fluff cycle wrinkle free and no static.

We used GAIAM original dryer balls since they first appeared in the catalog years ago. The new, PVC-free dryer balls are even better than the originals. I like the bright color, they don't roll, they make less noise in the dryer and they reduced our drying time by at least 30%. They work equally well on his jeans and my delicates.
