I was very excited to get this CD. However, found it difficult to follow as there is no step guide and most of the body shots are of the upper body. The video moves too fast to catch the steps involved. Requires a lot of rewinding to learn the steps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Scotty Bad camera work!
I'm not new to dance and was very dissappointed in the camera work and some of the instruction on this multi-technique dance dvd. Many times the instructor would be demonstrating a new combination and the camera is tight on her face, leaving the viewer to wonder what she just did. The viewer could benefit from a slower or 1/2-time demonstation of the new segment first with the camera backed off to show her whole body before she does it at tempo. I realize to make it interesting upon repeat viewings you need to move quickly, but with clearer demonstrating and camera work it would be a lot easier and quicker to get up to speed. Right now it's just frustrating.
Also, although Patricia covers the basic movements of each technique at the beginning of each section, but it's not a sufficient full body warm up for the movement that follows.

I was not to thrill with this dvd, because I think the instructor is too demanding on us in trying to remeber each move after 5mins of additional moves. All segments should just flow and move on to new moves

Rated 3 out of 5 by tinydancer2 Much better after first use
I'm not a beginner to dance. I've danced for years and I thought this would be a quick and fun workout for when I'm short on time. However, the first time I used this video I became frustrated quickly. Patricia doesn't use the techniques choreographers use to teach their students like facing the mirror instead of the students, talking through each move when combining the whole routine and repeating the new moves with the whole routine. Regardless, after one use I knew all the choreography so the second, third, and fourth times I used this video were quite enjoyable; and, if Patricia had taken the time to repeat the steps to help people learn them initially, the workout would seem very slow-paced after your first time through.
In summary, this video is frustrating the first time through (maybe more depending on your level of dance skill) but is really fun after you learn the choreography.

I found this video very interesting and challenging. It does give a good core workout, and for those days when I don't have time to the gym it gives me some good cardio without even feeling like I am exercising! The first time I tried it, I got a little frustrated because I felt I couldn't follow the moves very well, but by my second or third times through, I was having a great time and really getting into it! I would recommend rewinding and replaying the moves the first couple times if you are having trouble and do the basic moves a few times before you get into the routine, but after those first few times you will really appreciate that the instructor does not spend FORever explaining each step so your heart rate doesn't go down. Also, it's not about getting every move perfect- I found that when I let go of my frustration at not doing everything perfectly I had a lot more fun and was able to learn the steps quicker. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with the basics of the major dance styles as well as to brush up before you go to a class at the gym- because if you go into a zumba or salsa class, they do not give ANY explanation or break down the moves at all for you. I found that she broke them down really well. GREAT video!
