by Sommer1 Color Rubs Off - Very Disappointed!
I purchased this mat at Target on April 23, 2015, and it was my first Gaiam product purchase. During the first few weeks, the color on the dark blue side began wearing off. The light blue side also seems to be wearing off and always looks a little dirty. I have not used soaps or abrasive cleaning solutions on it; only a very mild, diluted water/vinegar solution. I do not use it for Hot Yoga or any faster-paced yoga. I use it in Hatha, Restorative, and some slower-paced Aerial Yoga classes. I am now saving for a better quality Manduka mat. You get what you pay for! This Gaiam mat was not a wise purchase.

I purchased this mat 1 month ago at a Target. I was interested in its earth friendly construction. I used it 3-4 x a week for hot yoga with a yoga towel on top. The strong chemical smell never dissipated despite my use of yoga spray and wipes with tea tree and eucalyptus. The mat is very stiff, requiring that I step on it every time I roll it out for practice and last week it began splitting apart where it is glued together. Now I have to purchase another mat as Target won't allow the return. Pretty disappointing.

I bought this mat because I was interested in the texture and environmentally-friendly factor. Also loved the look! I, as other posters have mentioned, that I thought there would be a 'break-in' period concerning the 'stretchyness', but after 3 months #practicing about 4x month#, even in the simplest of poses, the matt will stretch another inch on me. I've fallen out of poses because of this simple reason. I haven't yet bought a towel to go on top, but this mat is also a LOT more slippery than past, cheaper, mats that I've had #highly recommend a normal Gaim mat!#. Unhappy and unsatisfied with this mat style. I suggest going for a more basic mat.

The mat has a very rough texture on the surface of both sides. I is also stiff and hard, I don't like the material it is made of. It is a 5mm mat but feels no different than my 3mm mat. Except that my 3mm is much more comfortable. I will continue to use my old mat, I loose $10 in shipping, not worth sending it back.

An excellent mat for my practice. I practice 3-4 times a week. I also accompany it with a mat towel and I have no problems with grip. I do not practice vigorously/aggressively, so this may be why grip is okay for me. Regularly spray the mat after each practice with water and some melaleuca/lavender oil to help smells and bacteria. I would recommend this mat to others.
