Rated 1 out of 5 by Britt Not for herniated disc therapy/relief...
I purchased the Back Wave II to help alleviate pressure from herniated discs in the thoracic/lumbar area and scoliosis pains. After one light-use of the product I wound up suffering from an acute lumbar strain and spasms, which put me out of work for a week. My orthopedic physician has recommended that I not use the product again and am currently back in physical therapy.
The product is good quality, considering the simple make (basically a curved hump of wood covered in cushioned leather, with spinal indentation). This is certainly a tool for stretching the spine, but I would NOT recommend it for anyone with active spine issues.
I have bought other products from Gaiam and like them, however I will be returning this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Tanny very uncomfortable
I had high hopes for this product, but was very disappointed. As others have said, the instructions are terrible. I finally tried it from both directions and I think I got it figured out. However, after trying to use it quite a few times, it was not only very uncomfortable, but it was really hard to get off without my back spasming. It isn't wide enough to support your shoulders (and I'm not very big) and there is no neck support. I tried using it with pillows and with the Real Ease Relaxer and neither worked. It's absolutely not worth the price. I'm sending it back.

My neighbor turned me onto this product and I love it! I sit at a computer most of the day and my spine slowly compresses thru out the day. The Wave allows me to stretch my back out at the end of the day. Feels so good. Thank you!

I have a lot of pain with misaligned & compressed vertibrae and using the Back Wave gives me relief. I have to use a small pillow under my head and bend my knees a little, but I feel so much better after using it for 15 or 20 minutes a couple of times a week.
