Unlike some bags that are “inspired” by traditional rural designs, this is a truly authentic piece – the same utilitarian bag used daily by women of the Karen hill tribe group in Southeast Asia. Use it as a farmers’ market tote, your grocery bag, a purse or a conversation starter for anyone unaware of the current situation in Thailand/Burma. Proceeds fund aid and relief to thousands of refugees and displaced persons fleeing from a decades-long civil war. Hand-woven and hand-sewn of 100% cotton by Karen refugees the bags are dyed naturally with bark, roots, or vegetables. Hip length, with a comfortably wide shoulder strap. Choose from black, blue, purple or red.
