Rated 5 out of 5 by I just tried this mat today and I love it!! I have been using the original thin purple mat, have tried a few others and never found one that would make me retire my trusty purple mat. Until this one that is!!! Thickness was awesome and grip was wonderful. Will use this one from now on! Fiona in Colorado May 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by very nice mat I've used this mat three times in the week since I bought it, and it's great. Nice and thick, which is what I desperately needed. It's got a bit of that new-mat smell but it's already dissipating. I saw some other reviews that mentioned that it was very slippery, but that has not been my experience.  June 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very nice and bright I used this for the first time this past weekend at a yoga festival. Six hours of yoga two days in a row.  The mat held up very well.  It is the thickest mat I have ever owned, but I wanted to be comfortable.  I really like the light blue, it brightened my mood every time. The one thing I did not like is that once my feet became warm/sweaty, I began to slip on it a little. Not good.  I need to do some reading as to how I can make it a little more tacky when wet.  June 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love this mat! GOOD: This mat is 5mm of HEAVEN for my knees and wrists. My worn out 3mm cannot compare. I'm so happy with this mat.  NOT SO GOOD: The mat was very slippery when brand new, but my yoga instructor reminded me that this is true of all new mats for the most part. He suggested gently scrubbing the mat with epsom salt and warm water to remove the top coating that otherwise can take about 2 months to wear off. Between a warm salt scrub and purchasing a rosin bag (kind of like the chalk that rock climber use)  from another website, my second practice on the mat was slip free! January 27, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Too slippery, cannot use it! Just bought this mat after retiring my old Gaiam mat that I loved. The mat is beautiful and thick enough to offer support to my knees, however, the mat is so slippery I am unable to use it without a towel mat. Even during my Hatha gentle yoga class I simply cannot maintain grip. What a disappointment!  January 19, 2014

Accidental creases?

Just bought this mat a few days ago. I do not have a proper case for it and wrapped a thin rubber band around it to hold it together while it was put away last night. I took it out tonight and there is a slight crease on the front from where the rubber band was pressed against it. Is there any way to remove this crease? If I leave it out flat and practice enough on it, will the crease smooth itself out?

I just purchased this mat and I am sliding in my yoga poses. It cannot be attributed to perspiration, I was not sweating during the sessions. Is it just because it is still new and has to be broken in?

Answer:
Yoga mats tend to be a bit slippery when they are new. It will take a few weeks to break the mat in. We recommend that you wash the mat with a mixture of water and witch hazel. Mix equal parts of water and witch hazel (15% alcohol or less) in a spray bottle, spray your mat and wipe down. This will help to reduce the slipperiness.
