I first started Pilates in a studio and frankly that's where I recommend people start so they get the proper feel for the exercises and correction from an instructor. However, my studio which teaches the classic traditional style recommended Ana for "real" Pilates. Love Ana! Her energy is great! I've had this DVD for over a year and I never get tired of her! This is a perfect beginners DVD. Helps you put a correct foundation in place for the Intermediate.

I have fibromyalgia, and am still able to do the exercises on this DVD. Furthermore, Pilates seems to be helping my fibromyalgia pain slightly. I've tried a couple other DVDs with other instructors, but I keep coming back to Ana Caban's because I like her encouraging, warm approach -- she makes me feel like she's speaking directly to me, and that I really CAN do the exercises. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone with a chronic pain condition; while you may find you suffer a little flare when you first start doing it, just keep on, and you WILL start feeling better, stronger, and hopefully -- as I have -- a slightly lower pain level overall.

by Pilatesfan31 Great for beginners to Pilates
I bought this for my husband as I have been doing pliates for years. This is a basic, easy to follow dvd. Ana Cabon explains the moves thoroughly. He did it 4 times the first week and hasn't complained once...which is unusual. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to try Pilates but is afraid of the moves. It is the door into the amazing world of Pilates.

I owned this video years ago and loved it. Once I "mastered it" I gave it to a friend and bought the intermediate. Several years and a 2nd child later, I am finding it difficult to get back into pilates, as the intermediate is too challenging to get thru completely since the birth of my son. So, I am repurchasing the beginner one. Is the video "easy"? Well, if it wasn't it wouldn't be called "beginner"!! I need to start out easy again. After 24 years of working out, doing crunches etc, I found that pilates tones better than anything I've ever done. Can't wait to get back to it again!

This is a great DVD for those new to pilates. It is not too intimidating but helps to build a good foundation of core strength. It is true that it isn't a strenuous workout, but it isn't meant to be. If you are new to pilates or core fitness it is worth a try, you will improve core strength and flexibility in a safe manner. When I first started with this DVD I could not do the moves without using the modifications; however, after 1-2 months I was seeing results and ready for the intermediate tape. Whenever I have fallen off the fitness wagon, this workout helps to get me back on track.
