The idea of putting this in the dryer w/ tennis balls or beating it down to even out the batting is a great idea but it would need to done on a daily basis. I found that nightly i was beating this up to even out the filling- not conducive to relaxation but great if you need to get some stress reduced (hang it like a punching bag?). Am menopausal and sleep alone and found it hot to sleep with. If it wasn't hot and i didn't need to beat it up it would be great as the length, diameter and consistency is great. have returned it unfortunately

By age 36, I had to crawl/slide out of bed each morning because of lower back pain. I had a degenerative disc from a ropes course accident and I'd usually have to wait an hour or two after getting up before I could sit down; the pain and discomfort were that bad. I did all the right things--maintained a healthy weight, exercised regularly and often, did special back and ab exercises, used a new mattress. Nothing helped. Then my husband bought me this body pillow. Within a week or two the back pain disappeared. It didn't minimize or lessen. It went away. It only returns when I go out of town and don't have my body pillow. Regular pillows between my knees help on short trips but the body pillow is firm, flexible, and full-length. And it's not toxic-y. "Beanie" restored my quality of life--it helped where the orthopedic surgeon couldn't. It's been 8 years and I've replaced Beanie once already and will be happy to do so in a few years. If you have back pain, try this pillow. I promise I don't work for Gaiam for the body pillow people. I'm glad I finally wrote this review after telling this story to people many times over the years.

I like this pillow--it does not have a nasty chemical smell and seems nice and plushy. It is almost too overstuffed at first, but I imagine it will slim down a bit. It is annoying how the filler sinks from one end to the other, leaving one end understuffed and the other overstuffed and hard, but I find if you hold it with the overstuffed end upright with one hand and punch it with your fist, you can even things out quite easily. If I were to design it, I think I would put one or two baffles in it, some kind of walls to keep the stuffing in a smaller area. Nice to find organic cotton, certainly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Unaa Has it's issues
This is one of the less expensive organic body pillows I've found, and it's huge- about 6' with a bolster-like shape. You can't sleep with your head on it like the girl is doing in the picture, it's too high. The only real issue I have with this thing is the separation of the fibers, but I was reading another review with the same problem and Gaiam said to toss it in the dryer for a while. It's pretty annoying though, since we've only used the pillow for about 2 and 1/2 weeks now and it seperated in
the middle amost right away. It's extremely
difficult/impossible to beat the shape back into it.
So I hope the dryer works otherwise I'm giving the
pillow 3 stars, then trying the reviewer's idea of tying the case up tighter. Oh, and because of the shape and length of this pillow, you do have to buy the case Gaiam sells, no standard body pillow case will even come close to fitting this thing.
