Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy, safe alternative At different times of the year, we battle ants here in the desert. They can become quite problematic when they get into the house so this helps us create a barrier to keep them outside where they belong. There is no strong odor and it's very easy to use. Rated 4 out of 5 by Kills insects but attracts bees This spray works great to keep bugs away like ants and cockroaches. I spray it outside around the doors and windows and any cracks where bugs can get in. I would recommend spraying it at night because bees are attracted to the orange peel extract and they came swarming one time when I sprayed in daylight. Once it dries the bees go away. Answer:
This is a steam-distilled byproduct of citrus peels, entirely of natural origin. Orange Guard is water-based and all ingredients are classified food-grade and G.R.A.S. (generally recognized as safe) by the FDA. Orange Guard is safe to use around dogs, but will not repel animals.

As a cat owner, I know cats don't like the smell of citrus and citrus scent can be used to keep them from scratching your favorite chair.
