The Kishu Water Filter is the only compostable water filter, making it the perfect eco-smart choice for pure, toxin-free water. Made of hand-cut natural active carbon, the Kishu water filter absorbs lead, mercury, cadmium, copper and chlorine from your tap water for healthier, more delicious water. Simply place the Kishu in a pitcher, add water and allow it to filter overnight. The Kishu Compostable Water Filter is handcrafted from the branches of sustainably harvested holm oak trees in Japan, which are slowly fired in a traditional kiln for many days to produce this pure active carbon filter. When you’re done using the Kishu, simply compost and purchase a replacement. Lasts six months filtering 1 to 2 liters a day. Water pitcher not included. Japan.

Kishu Water Filter Features:
  • Made from active charcoal created from a sustainably harvested resource
  • Absorbs toxins and heavy metals from tap water
  • Adds healthy minerals for delicious-tasting water
  • Provides a much more environmentally friendly option to plastic-encased filters
  • 100% compostable
  • Each filter lasts up to 6 month

Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by water tastes great I used this once for 2 weeks on a trip to Trinidad & Tobago where you can drink the tap water, but it didn't taste great. I love the small size & light weight, compostable nature and the fact that it works--water tastes much better.  To be more thorough I would like to test the water before and after for contaminants, but haven't done that yet. Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent so far! My husband and I have been trying very hard to live cleaner, healthier, simpler lives and looking for a better solution to cleaner water. We're not into the whole plastic leaching God only knows what into our water and sometimes just plain filtered water seems like it doesn't really hydrate, enter Kishu water filter, and our water never tasted better! What's more is that it is sustainable, compostable, and you can use it to deodorize the refrigerator after you've used it for 6 months, how cool is that! March 31, 2013

Answer:
Kishu absorbs some fluoride but not completely - fluoride is a very small molecule which makes bonding with Kishu difficult.
