Rated 5 out of 5 by Enjoy These Cords! Now I have 2 of these resistance cords which are so very useful as I try to maintain my fitness prior to surgery on my spine. And, of course they are great to use in maintaining strength on a regular basis, something I will do post-operatively. Great product! August 2, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by BIG Resistance in a small package In the ongoing effort to increase my exercise instead of my waist, I require methods, equipment,DVDs etc that are: accessible, portable, affordable, fun, not boring, interesting AND provide a bonafide total body workout. The covered resistance cord and DVD meet all of these requirements and more! February 26, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great resistance band that is great for daily use and also easy to pack for staying fit while traveling.   September 2, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Buyer Beware Good price, however, if you are sensitive to the smell of PVC (e.g. "shower curtain smell"), then know that these have that smell. To some people the smell may be faint enough to tolerate, but for me, I got a headache a few minutes after taking them out of the box and my hands were stained with the smell immediately (with very little handling). I spoke to a lovely-mannered customer service representative who confirmed my hunch that they do, in fact, contain PVC. The handles are a foam-covered PVC core and the foam looks and smells exactly like the kind of foam that contains phthalate chemicals that are known by the state of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. I had assumed that Gaiam would never use such materials, simply as a MATTER OF COURSE. However, I was wrong. According to the Gaiam rep, unless the packaging states something like "LATEX FREE" or "PVC FREE," buyer, you had better beware. Gotta go wash my hands! (wish I were kidding about that) This product is going back to Whole Foods ASAP. September 5, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love it but ... I love my new cord, I would have preferred having the DVD online ... and be able to have it on my iPad (iTunes code) to carry when I travel ... This is an easy & light way for me to exercise on my business trip ... Plus the packaging would be even greener ... February 5, 2012

Answer:
Unfortunately we do not have calorie calculations for the resistance bands since there are so many variables to consider when determining how many calories are being burned.

band colors?

I have recently started to take yoga, and the class includes use of bands like these. I had physical therapy some years ago, and the bands were graded by color: yellow, green, red, blue, black (from easy to difficult); our yoga bands are similarly colored. Using that scale, I should use a red band. Should I order a "medium", and, if so, what color will it be?

Answer:
I am not sure if our bands will translate exactly the same as the ones you use previously since there were more intervals of resistance. However based off what you said I would go with a medium band to start with. The medium band is green.

Answer:
I have the pink and green bands - the green being medium. Green is obviously a tougher band, however, it works really well for biceps and triceps.

This band is covered so you don't come into direct contact with the latex in the product. The work out DVD's that come with the product are also different.

I LOVE the dvd that comes with 'medium' and i'm wondering if the 'heavy' set will come with the same exact dvd or a slightly more challenging one?

Answer:
The covered resistance cords do contain latex. It depends on the severity of your allergy. If you can be around it but you just can't touch it these should be ok. However if the smell causes you to react then these will not work for you.
