Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality First of all gaiam post only good reviews. I made a review for this comforter long time, where i describe quality and shipping and customer service, but Gaiam just ignore me. Now i am writing again. And to all my disappointments i wanna add one more. After few months of using this comforter it starts to loose down... Now when i change duvet i have to wear respirator, it seems like a snow storm in my room, after thet i have to clean not only bedroom but the all my appartment, because i found balls of fluff all over. it so a hard time!!! the only solution i see is to change comforter every 2 months for a new one, may be then Gaiam will make quality for 500$ September 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lux This comforter is luxurious. It keeps me toasty in cold climates (I purchased one for an old farmhouse in Pennsylvania) without being heavy and cumbersome. I miss this comforter when I am away from it and cannot wait to sleep under it again. It actually makes me look forward to being in a drafty place because it is so cozy. March 2, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by True love Okay, it's valentine's day, but seriously, I adore this comforter. I have E.I. (Environmental Illness), and it's very rare that I can immediately enjoy a product....I typically have to offgas, air out, wash, set outside for months on end....any product I purchase. But this comforter was so pristine and odor free that I could begin snuggling right away. I really am in love with this warm, fluffy comforter. No more being pinned into the bed by layers of heavy organic cotton. This is like sleeping in a cloud. February 14, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by "I'm in heaven" When I came out to CA to take care of my 96 y.o. mom, I could not believe how cold it gets here at night. I would wake up with stiff joints at 3 am every night. I finally decided to treat myself to a down comforter as my job as a caregiver is very demanding. I adore my new Gaiam comforter and my new leafy duvet cover. It is so warm and cozy and it was important to me to get products made from organic cotton. I wake up in the morning grateful and feel that it is so worth it to get a good night's sleep. I woke up the first night singing: "I'm in heaven". January 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Satisfied Customer I bought this to replace an old down quilt I'd had for many years & am very happy with this purchase. It's been a cold winter in Brooklyn NY so far and this quilt has kept me cozy and warm at night when I turn down the heat in my house to around 60 degrees. I tend to get cold when I sleep (alone) so the Heavyweight version of this comforter is perfect for me. January 13, 2011

I read that some down is treated with flame retardant chemicals to comply with US Safety regulations. Are these down feathers/comforter shell treated like this?

Thank you for your question. The down is collected through standard practices, so this is not considered a "cruelty-free" product.
