Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what we needed I was sleeping terribly over the summer, usually I sleep like a baby, I was suspecting it was our mattress but it was less than 2 years old so I was hoping it wasn't. We went away on vacation which usually means worse sleep but I slept amazingly! I had requested a feather bed which was super comfortable and before I left I looked at the bedding and saw it was a basic mattress with thick feather topper creating the "feather bed". So soon as I put this on our bed at home I was sleeping great again! I'm so happy I don't have to go buy a new mattress. The only thing with this is the feathers get bunched up in the middle( between my side and my husband's) so every week when I wash the sheets I have to remove the cover & shake out the feather pad. Its worth it for a good night sleep though. * just a note on mattresses, we have a platform bed which the sales guy told us would cause the life of the mattress to shorten. Unfortunately this is very true, I'd never buy a platform bed again., we bought a really nice mattress too that was incredible in the beginning and now it's almost worthless but thanks to this feather topper we'll sleep good again for hopefully a few more years.  December 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful!!! I have a queen size Sleep Number bed, and have been looking for something to even out the sleeping surface and provide some comfort and plushness without overheating me or giving off nasty (foam) vapors. This proved to be the answer! I purchased the Cleandown topper, wool with cotton cover mattress pad, wool with cotton cover comforter, and organic cotton soft pillow, and my bed has gone from being an enemy to being a best friend. I have allergies, back problems, fibromyalgia, and am a woman with heat issues, and this combination of items addresses every need perfectly with no problems at all. What a relief--I didn't realize how such a simple thing as bedding accessories could promote a comfy, cozy night's sleep! Worth every penney and highly recommended. September 1, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent This is a wonderful product. I purchased it because I tore my trapezius muscles and trying to sleep was painful and sometimes impossible. I needed some cushioning between my back and the mattress. This featherbed is soft, even and provides just the right cushioning, also the perfect amount of warmth in the winter. From the first night I installed it I began to sleep again. I love it! February 24, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Restful sleep at last I love this feather bed. I thought it would be to warm for the summer months, but it was perfect! I love it even more now that winter is here. I have a great sleep night after night! January 17, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Soft! This is a very plush, soft featherbed. It compacts easily so it doesn't completely remove all pressure points but it does feel luxurious and did a lot to help make a very hard mattress easier to sleep on! November 1, 2011

Answer:
The CleanDown Feather bed is 3 1/2" thick. It may work well for an overnight padding, however is not recommended as a substitute for a bed.

Answer:
The Featherbed is 3 1/2" thick. As long as your fitted sheet is large enough to support the extra thickness, there should be no problem adding this to your bed!

Answer:
It doesn't need it however I normally recommend some sort of barrier or protector to cut down on how often you have to have it cleaned. This can also eliminate having to have it dry cleaned all together depending on what you use because most protectors are machine washable.

I love my featherbed but the down has moved from the center sections (where my butt and weight are) to the edges. Is there a way to move the down back to the center areas and keep it there?

The only thing I have found is to remove it from the bed and shake it all around. Then it seems they settle right back in place. I have to do this once a week.

Answer:
If you fluff the pad it should fill back out. This will need to be done occasionally to keep it fluffy. When I wash my sheets each week I normally will crunch up my pad and shake it out to fluff it back to it's original state.

I don't buy down for ethical reasons, but I saw all the down you folks sell, and I wondered how it's collected. Does it come from animals who are already dead? Or is it taken from them while they're alive? Are there any standards for the care of these animals, or for the way they are killed?

Answer:
This down is harvest from birds that are being raised for food, and the down is collected post-mortem. There are standards in place to make sure that the animals are well cared for and slaughtered as humanely a possible.
